I said as kindly as
possible that I didn't think that would be a likely choice of career for her
at her age. She was offended. She was angry.
"I have always wanted
to join them. I first saw the Snowbirds in Newfoundland when I was 13.
That is one of the ritual my father and I do. We go to the Airshows. I
joined the aircadets the year that I saw them. But all they taught us was
to shine our shoes. I never got near an airplane. Airplanes were reserved
for Ontario and Quebec. That's how everything is in Newfoundland. We
never get what other people get.
If I had been in Ontario, I bet I would
have been taught how to fly.
